Junior Interclub 2013

12 January 2013
Truro City young guns almost snatch victory at the County Junior Interclub 2013 …

Truro City Swimming Club Junior Members made the annual trip to the Dragon Leisure Centre Bodmin with high hopes of a shock result on Sunday 12th January in the County  Division One, Junior Inter Club Championship.

The young squad of up and coming swimmers challenged current champions St Ives Bay all the way to the final race of the meet, with the Truro junior swimmers putting some great individual and age group team relay swims together to secure a very close second place. The Junior squad although still quite young, contained a number of last years 2012 individual County Age Group Champions in both the boys and girls and the competitive spirt and fast racing brought back memories of some of the great Truro past junior team performances.

Proud parents and spectators were treated to a fast and furious meet as the evening gala’s atmosphere grew in anticipation and excitement. Truro City drawn in one of the favourable fast lanes, lane 4 more than held their own and by the halfway mark it was clearly a two horse race as the Truro City swimmers challeneged last years champions St Ives Bay for the championship title.

Alas, in the end the final result saw a very strong St Ives Bay hold off the challenge to retain their title and many congratulations to them, with Truro in a close second missing out by only 7 points.

The final placings were:
