Head Coach Changes
New Head Coach makes an impact after an emotional goodbye …
At the commencement of the 2011/12 season it was with a heavy heart the Head Coach Jane Deards and her brother Nick the Senior Coach decided that in December 2011 they would be stepping down from their coaching duties. Stalwarts of not only swim coaching in Conwall but individually great swimmers holding a number Truro and Cornish records between them, both had committed many years to the sport.
As christmas approached along with the mid season break it was a very emmotional and sad December day at the last training session, as the swimmers and Jane bid farewell. A small presentation took place at the club, presenting Jane with a crystal decanter set for the years of committment and success, and from the swimmers a book of memories was completed where individual swimmers current and past had each written a personal message.
Not only has the club profited from Jane and Nick’s contribution dominating cornish swimming and winning the Ellis County Cup for the past 14 years, but so have many of its swimmers notable many who like Andrew Cook, Jack Middleton, Tom Booth, Micheal Grant, Dominic Godwin, Amelia Grigg, Kay DeCourcy and Josie Williams went on to compete at national level, just to name a few.
Commenting on her departure Jane said “I am sad to go, but I feel the time is right, I have some great memories of my time at the club, I have met many characters and cahllenges along the way but I am glad that in my own way I have also helped so many of them achieve some great results over the years” she went on to finish by saying “however, I know that I will be leaving the club in great hands with Emily, she has some super ideas and training methods for the future and I am sure that the club will go from strength to strength” …… Enjoy The Rest Jane!
