Cornwall & West Devon League Round 3 …

28th June
Truro gained home advantage for the third and final round of the 2008 Cornwall and West Devon League and made it tell with a victory over their cornish rivals.

This round saw the cornish clubs all drawn together, raising the stakes for local pride and bragging rites for a year amongst the teams. Truro again handicapped with a number of the club’s top swimmers unable to swim their preferred strokes through National qualification, still managed to battle through to confirm Truro’s  dominance amongst the cornish clubs.

The inclusion of a number of the Senior squad bolstered the team and Truro on home ground gave a decisive display in winning this round with a 168 points. Carn Brea pushed them hard but came up short in 2nd place with 150, Bodmin and St Austell finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.

This win saw Truro finishing in a respectible 6th place in league, leaving us only to reflect on what might have happened with a more favourable draw in the early rounds and an improved swimmer availability.

Thank you to all the swimmers, parents and coaches and a BIG … WELL DONE!
