Truro City youngsters make a good start at this early season opener …
Truro City Swimming Club took a contingent of its Development, Junior and Intermediate squad members to the 14th Carn Brea & Helston Open at Penzance. For some of the younger swimmers not only was it their first taste of competition outside of their club, but for a few it was their first official licensed meet; for all of them not only did they have a great day but many came away with new personal best times and continue to develop and progress well.
It also gave the attending Truro coaches and management an opportunity to formulate the younger elements of both the Arena and Kernow League squad, looking at possible combinations and preparation for the forthcoming round 1 of competition in October and having a look at the younger age group category’s with a view of building an competitive squad for the CCASA Junior Inter Gala early in the New Year.
Some great swims across the age groups and gender; accumulating with team Truro gaining 13 gold,10 silver, 13 bronze and plenty of PB’s along the way a great performance from all this early in the swim calendar.
Special WELL DONE must go to young Isabelle Leigh (10 year AG) for gaining one new club record and Harry Polkinghorne ( 9 year AG) in his first competitive gala, gaining four new club records both continue to show their great development and potential.
Truro City only results are promulgated and available to view on the gala board. For the full gala results per session via CBH website please click HERE
For all of the swimmers who attended the Carn Brea Helston 2014 Open the day was a success, coming away from the meet with new friends and something to help build their confidence for the coming season whether that was a county qualifying time, medal or personal best.
Well done to you all keep up the hard work
